Living only in Boston suburbs and rural Maine for my 26years old lifetime, I was stoked to headed to the Asheville area this year now that my aunt has officially retired down there. I did back to back races up here on the weekend and made the 14hr drive down all on Monday with grand delusions of crushing all of Pisgah in the next 5 days. Holy Sh*t! The mountain biking of Pisgah ain't no joke at all. Granted I was solo with no knowledge of the area but 20mile loops took 4hours and left me blown for the day. Hardest riding I've ever done, light years better than what we've got in the boston area. Since I left all I can think about is my next trip down there. I did do an out and back on the locals only heartbreak ridge, and darn, that trail is baller to the max. Totally unreal. Next time I go I need to get a guide. Jacob at Liberty bikes set me up with some good routes, but still, too much time checking the map and too afraid of starting loops late in the day.
